This song was an especially fun project as it was our attempt to write a song that encapsulates all the feelings we’ve shared throughout 2020. We did our best to share our stress, anxiety, cabin fever, loneliness, and desperation, but in a way that is still fun and on-brand for Marianne Toilet and The Runs! With that being said, we grabbed hold to our roots and influences to this chaotic 59 second song! In it you may hear hints of Motörhead’s rhythmic drive, with a classic punk T.S.O.L./Black Flag feel and lead guitar reminiscent of the Dead Kennedys. Originally this song had additional sections but in the end we whittled the whole song down to its core consisting of only 4 words (using the word “f**k” a shocking 89 times!) This is by far also the fastest most aggressive song Marianne Toilet and The Runs have written to date!
